Enter Arsene Lupin

At the start of her career, Ella Raines reminds me of Gene Tierney. Here she plays a rich heiress, Stacie Kanares, who has a very expensive jewel stolen - and then returned by - Arsene Lupin (Charles Korvin), who is attracted to her.

Although he's using another name, a police detective is hot on his trail. For Arsene, this is a side issue. He thinks Stacie's relatives, with whom she is staying, are out to get her jewel and kill her. Since one of them is Gale Sondergaard, there is cause for concern.

Pleasant film with several scenes of Lupin outsmarting the police, and quite an ending! Enjoyable.
