I watched "Fetysz" (Fetish) on Polish TV and found it very funny. The plot is about Winicjusz Rudy (Jan Prochyra), the head of a family and a social activist, who is an honest sanitary inspector. Someone like that finds it hard to live in the reality of the Polish People's Republic-he does not want to take bribes from managers of controlled catering establishments, and for honest trade at the Rozycki Bazaar he is accused by the police of profiteering. Rudy has one dream-to have a Fiat 126p. When he finally, after many difficulties, manages to get the desired car, it is stolen. "Fetish" is not the film for everyone, and you have to understand the realities of that period. So people from the other countries and even the younger generation of Poles may have problems in understanding the humor. One indisputable asset of "Fetish" is the participation of many popular actors like Ewa Zietek, Ludwik Benoit, or Leon Niemczyk. And you may also treat it as a document of its times.
