- AnecdotesDuring the film's closing credits, Israel declared its victory during the Six Day War where the Israeli Air Force evaluated the captured MiG that Munir Redfa flew with during his defection. Also, the captured MiG was loaned to the United States Air Force in January 1968 where they also evaluated it (during the same time period when USAF and Navy aircraft (primarily the McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II) were deployed to Vietnam and they were suffering heavy losses where the lighter MiGs had a greater maneuverability which led to the development of the Have Doughnut program where the Dissimilar Aircraft Combat Training was developed (that became the USAF's Red Flag program and the U.S. Navy's Fighter Weapons School later known as Top Gun). The USAF later returned the MiG back to Israel where it has became a museum display. Two years after the Six Day War, the IAF, who have also been a participant in the MiG evaluation along with its participation with the Have Doughnut program, acquired the F-4 Phantom II.
- GaffesMunir Redfa's defection did not involve a dogfight - also, he actually defected with a MiG-21, not a MiG-15. The fighters that escorted his MiG were Lockheed F-80 Shooting Stars - in real life, he was escorted by two IAF Dassault Mirage IIIs.

Okay, historical accuracy is only approximate... Mig 15, Mig 17, Mig 21 well, whatever it was, I'm sure it's not important to get this spot on. What I think is important, the big picture, the story as a whole, the drama, the excitement... that really comes through. The tension builds up, and the timing all adds to a tense climax.
I do love this film ; the actors are great and the sense of speed and awesome shots of low level flying (I don't think this is enough to qualify as a spoiler) are thrilling. This is my favourite film about warplanes / fighters... and is much better than Top Gun in my opinion. In fact, writing this I've just got myself all excited about it ... and you know what... maybe I'll go upstairs and watch it one more time!! Do not miss it just because one reviewer says the facts are off (because they are... it's just based on a true story).
