Ninja Kids was produced after the popularity of the earlier teen flick "Bagets." It was formulaic in nature and typical of many Filipino movies of the 80s: A light plot with lots of action, some singing, much comedy and little drama. And the good guys always win. Baget's Alumni HERBERT BAUTISTA, JC BONIN and FRANCIS MAGALONA star. The film was the only film that singing sensation KENO ever starred in. (There were more VIVA film offers after which he declined.) It was also the vehicle to introduce RICKY RIVERA and DENNIS DASILVA. Filming began during the political tension of "people power" and production had to halt a few weeks. (The break is evident to the keen observer, most specially at the end when small inconsistencies can be seen, e.g, it is not ELIZABETH OROPESA playing lotus but a look-a-like. KENO's hair is shorter, etc.) All in all, it is a highly enjoyable film. Shown on late night TV, it is remembered fondly by the 40's and older group who were teens themselves back then when it was shown.
