"Twisted Metal 3" sucked. Everyone hated it. It got awful reviews, 989 was practically castrated for their poor efforts. In 1999, a year later, they decided to get it right -- and totally kicked a$$. "Twisted Metal 4" is a bad, bad game -- but in a good way. It's got a bad attitude, a loud rock music soundtrack, gnarly explosions, and awesome levels.
It's the best "Twisted Metal" game except for "II" -- the gameplay is addictive and fun, the levels are extremely well designed. On top of that the new vehicles are great and you can even play as Rob Zombie.
Overall I'd rank this as the second-best of the entire series and say that it was definitely a nice sign-off for the "Twisted Metal" series on original Playstation. (Number five is coming out now on PS2, I heard.)
