Ignore Jonathan Agnews comments, I have actually played and own this game.
Girlfriend of Steel is a semi-interactive movie, to put it simply. For the most part, it's like watching an extra-long episode of the TV series (I'm not entirely sure where it's set, but Eva-00' is blue, and stuff hasn't started getting crazy yet). Every so often you'll have to move Shinji to another location in a Myst-style fashion of clicking directions, but it never really gets more complex than that. I'd barely call it a "game", but it's interesting enough.
A new girl moves into Shinji's class, and immediately takes a shine to Shinji (much to the jealous anger of Asuka). Mana Kirishima is her name, and she quickly enters Shinji's life and becomes somewhat his girlfriend (in a perfectly innocent and shy way). However, Mana isn't all she seems, and as strange events unfold outside Tokyo-3, Asuka starts to suspect Mana's involvement...
The images are beautiful, the voice acting (by all the original Japanese cast) is perfect, as are the sound effects. The music is all familiar tunes, but in midi. It certainly "feels" like the anime, and is an enjoyable watch, though unless you're a big fan of Eva you'll just find it very long and very boring.
