Les minets sauvages

I hadn't seen this film for decades but sought it out recently after rewatching the same director's film "Harem". Despite the differences in location - a reform school here as against a Tunisian Medina - many of the themes are the same particularly domination of bottom guys by ostensibly stronger and more "manly" ones.

However, in this film, the domination becomes actual rape as we see in the first few minutes of the action.

Dialogue and sounds are added post production and some of the dubbing is quite pitiful - I surmise that a couple of cast members have no or little French as their lips don't relate to anything that they are purportedly saying.

As the head of the dormitory, Luigi di Como's dark looks and animalistic screen presence convince the viewer totally. He holds nothing back in his violent couplings with Didier Hamel playing the new victim nor in his encouragement to his dorm buddies to be as rough as he is.

There are two scenes of non-forced sex between Hamel's character and that played by Jean-Louis Vassieres to set against the horror of taking other inmates by force.

In the end, it's all a fantasy, of course, in its exagerration but we should not forget that figures just out report a thousand recent rapes in UK prisons.

All in all this is a milestone in adult films and one that leaves the viewer shaken.
