This is a very interesting student film...one that you somehow find yourself liking, though you're not sure why! The animation for this film is all computer-generated and is mostly monochromatic or dichromatic. It's a simple story about a guy and his father playing tennis when suddenly they are harassed by some stupid teenagers. There really isn't a particularly deep story here, but it seems to be trying to say something about our next generation being a bunch of jerks. As a school teacher, there are days I would agree with this! However, what makes it really quirky is that the story is all told in a strange way--using a modern version of a folk-style song that is sung by one of the most monotone singers. He isn't bad--just sings like he's reaaaallly mellow--like he's had a few too many Valiums! But, and this in the interesting thing, the total effect is really interesting and I found myself enjoying this quirky little film. It showed a lot of style and I look forward to seeing and hearing more from these folks in the future.
By the way, if you are curious, the song "I Have Seen the Future" that runs throughout this short film is by Kris Demeanor and His Crack Band. Now that's an interesting name for a singing group!
