It is hard to describe this series as the episodes are quite varied, some are comedies, some are about the characters personal relationships and some are almost non stop action. The story follows Kouhei a photographer who rescues young vampire girl Hazuki from a castle in Germany and returns her to Japan. She thanks him by sinking her fangs into her neck hoping to turn him into her slave, for some reason it has no effect on him though. Despite this she ends up living with Kouhei and his grandfather and over the course of the series they are joined by other people including two young girls and another vampire, Count Kinkell, who was initially the slave of the vampire who was holding Hazuki captive. Count Kinkell is not pleased to have lost Hazuki and is determined to get her back... and he isn't the only one to want her.
This series was enjoyable although some people may be put off by the opening theme 'Kitty ear mode' which seems to belong to a different type of show altogether, it is worth watching though. The animation is of a cute style which makes the characters look quite a bit younger than they really are. While Hazuki isn't a cat-girl she spends almost all of her time wearing cat ears and she has a guardian spirit called Haiji who sometimes takes the form of a cat. Throughout the series there is a running gag where whenever somebody says or does something slightly silly an old metal bath crashes down on their head. If you don't want to buy the DVDs the series can be legally viewed on Funimation's YouTube channel at the moment.
