Adélia Sampaio's first short film is an incredible piece that doesn't say much but it certainly gives a lot through its images and give many reflections
on audiences. An almost silent story revolving a lovely old couple (Rodolfo Arena and Catalina Bonakie) whose lives are turned upside down when they are
notified that they have to vacate their small apartment. Nothing can be done to help them so they take a drastic measure.
It's hard to talk about it without spoiling anything so I'm gonna have to keep you in the dark. Going with the feelings of it all, the story is very down and I couldn't concentrate my head for a while afterwards; the excellent performances from the duo makes it more interesting, along with the great cinematography work. On a deeper level it makes younger audiences think about the twilight of our days as reaching old days, with whom we were sharing this journey where you only expect for certain destined things but somehow things come your way and it's hard to react because one is no longer young. There's still troubles ahead before death.
It's close to Michael Haneke's "Amour" or "Make Way for Tomorrow" with their themes but it has a life of its own, and you might want to discuss it the exact ending with someone. It feels real and it is real, those things happen and the title says it all. I won't be able to translate it to the folks outside of Brazil since it'd reveal everything about the story - and this is the kind of film you should see without the revelations, the dialogues are quite reduced and anyone around the world could get the exact idea as the film sells itself greatly through its images. A very good dramatic experience. 8/10.
