Anecdotes
In the story, Chrissa Maxwell was a fourth-grader. Samantha Hanratty, who plays Chrissa, was in seventh grade at the time of filming.

Gaffes
Towards the beginning of the movie, it's established Chrissa's first day of school was on a Friday. At the end of that school day, the teacher announces swim club permission slips were due the next day, which would be a Saturday, a day school is closed.

Genius Casting

I believe the idea of hiring the Bride of Chucky herself Jennifer Tilly to appear and act in a movie basically advertising American Girl dolls is just hilarious. I have watched this movie for that reason and that reason alone as I just cant get enough of how hilarious that addition is. I hate the rest of the film... I respect the decision to have Jennifer Tilly though as... It's the Bride of Chucky... In American Girl.
