A subtle movie that you will definitely be adoring throughout the watch and later on. Definitely in love with The Colour Blue after watching the film. The film is a work of art, hands down. Simple characters with relatable issues dealt by them, you will be appreciating the film. The entire thing about the film is so realistic, so convincing, it's definitely worth all the hype, appreciation and word of mouth.
One of the best LGBTQ films I've ever seen. The lead actor Tanay is such a find! You feel every emotion he's going through and kudos to the director too for telling the story with such beauty and sensitivity. The only element that I didn't buy is how carefree his parents were, if you know Indian parents you know how nosy they are! Also the ending could have been slightly better it leaves us wanting for more..may be it was meant to be that way. The movie may leave you with a slight heart ache as you feel for these characters.
Both movie and the book were so marvelous. Originally written by an Indian author and published in 2013 was one of the remarkable works about love, freedom, and heartbreak.
Don't compare it with or call it the Indian version of Call me by your name (2017) both are different and unique. The story of a brother and sister falling for a nameless, mysterious person. Who tears apart the two siblings. I do recommend that you clear your schedule just so you won't feel that you missed reading it, I do love the characters, especially Tanay I love how twisted the ending not to spoil but I'm in LOVE <3 with this book, I couldn't stop reading, and there is no part of the book that will make you stop reading.
'Love is a habit, the habit ends you die', those words made me cry at the very start of the movie. I smiled when Tanay fell in love, I was happy when they made love under the night sky, I felt warmth when they kissed each other, and all of sudden I was crying when he disappeared without any note , I was heartbroken watching Tanay, hiding all that pain inside him. The music, the dialogues everything is beautifully written and played, I was living those 112 minutes of human emotions, love, and despair. Actors definitely brought these characters and the pain and emotions that Tanay and Anuja feel to life.
Tanay represents all those members of LGBTQ who are trying to find their place in a heteronormative society .'Women stole the men we love' his teacher told him one day. Tanay's love was so pure and so devoted, he never questioned anything, he never doubted, he believed everything that nameless guy said. He simply loved him with all his heart, and it made me cry throughout the book and movie. Tanay's intense grief and despondence will haunt me for a while.

Loved the cinematography-I have never seen Fort Kochi this beautiful in any movies - definitely has an eye for capturing stunning colours. Story is good and through the main character you do feel the emotions that he experiences.
Movie is a tad slow however, I enjoyed watching it.

As a 60 year old gay man, I have grown to really appreciate gay love stories. It allows me to dream what my youth could have been if I had the courage and society permitted it. It makes it even more interesting if you could explore what it might have been like to experience same sex love in foreign culture. Also reminds me that I regret not yet traveling to India.
