Dean Haglund is an actor, an improv comic, an artist and an inventor. Best known by millions of fans the world over for playing one of the computer-hacking Lone Gunmen on 'The X-Files' and their own spin-off series, Dean has become closely identified with the realm of the paranormal and the world of conspiracy. He has even found himself at the center of a conspiracy theory surrounding the events of 9/11. THE TRUTH IS OUT THERE follows Dean Haglund as he travels the globe, using his 'insider' status to interview conspiracy theorists, researchers, authors, journalists, New Age devotees, scientists and artists. Do ghosts exist? What are UFOs? Is there a government cover-up concealing the existence of extra-terrestrials? Is there an effort underway to establish a New World Order controlled by the banks or the U.N.? Is the industrialization of our food and water supply not only responsible for the erosion of our health, but is it part of a plan put into place by the world's elitists to eradicate a large percentage of the world's population? What really happened on 9/11? Why does proven technology that could change the world and improve our lives not receive mainstream media or corporate attention? Is there a 'spiritual' dimension that humans can learn how to tap into? Dean will listen and learn while discussing all of these topics and more, hoping to discover what it means to search for the truth in a world where conspiracy, or conspiracy theories, are everywhere.

SCI-FI-London Premiere review

This documentary is an interesting story following Dean Haglund and filmmaker Phil Leirness as they journey through the world of UFO conventions and conspiracy theories. I was lucky enough to attend the Premiere in London, as part of the SCI-FI-London Film Festival (2011).

As some have already mentioned it isn't a definitive guide to the conspiracy theories at large, I don't think it is meant to be, there are just too many of them. The movie however shows a more "relaxed" side to a diversity of people who have strong beliefs in what they see as their own truth and as the documentary unfolds, we see Dean's own journey progress with each encounter. With interviews from interesting people from all over the globe, it's warm, funny and scary at times.

I like the way the movie seems to stay in neutral territory and allow the interviews to take on a life of their own, giving the individuals their own space to express themselves. With so many different, passionate stories, its hard not to be entertained and appreciate this piece of work.
