Story: Saadhu Bhai(Kelly Dorjee) is a dangerous mafia don who runs an illegal empire with the help of his close aides in Ranjan(Mukesh Rishi). Baadshah(NTR) is the aggressive son of Ranjan and he is the emerging force in the underworld. As time passes by, Baadshah becomes hugely popular and decides to take on the mighty Saadhu Bhai. An upset Sadhu Bhai now decides to kill Baadshah. This is also the time when the terrorist attacks planned by Saadhu in India enter an operational phase. Baadshah, who is strictly against Saadhu Bhai, also moves to India to stop his evil deeds. Why does Baadshah go against Saadhu Bhai? How does he manage to tackle Saadhu Bhai's plans ? Whose help does he take to fulfill his mission? That forms the rest of the story. Positive Points: Baadshah is an out and out Srinu Vytla film. There is action, romance, thrill and most importantly lots of comedy in the film. It's a tailor made role for NTR, who plays his part perfectly in 3 characters portrayed throughout at different times. He acts, fights, dances and looks like a true Baadshah. His fans will simply love him in this role which has multiple shades. They will get to see him in a stylized role in the first half, and a boy next door in the second. NTR manages to bring compete difference to both his characters and looks very convincing. A pro in dancing, NTR has done an awesome job in that department. Kajal Agarwal, gets a meatier role and plays her part exceptionally well. She looks beautiful. Kajal gets lots of footage in the first half devoted to her. She just goes through the motion where as the dubbing takes care of the punches. She was given simple moments to dance and she did well with those. Brahmanandam however was the show stealer here with his performance taking the film to an all time high in the second half of the film.
Music by SS Thaman is good and is already a huge success before release itself. They have been picturised well on screen with each song containing a fabulous moment of dance by Jr NTR. The background score is inconsistent, its good at times but is also noisy at times.
An interesting medley featuring Sr NTR's songs will be loved by the audience tremendously. First half of the movie is stylish, where as the second half is completely entertaining. Songs are a major plus and have been shot lavishly. The title song which showcases NTR as Baadshah is the one to watch out for. Negative Points: In spite of having tremendous entertainment, Baadshah has a flavor of all of Srinu Vytla's old films. If the last 10 minutes in the first half should have trimmed off to maintain that pace to go on. The pre-interval and interval feel of absolutely carelessness carries in the beginning of the second half too till the characters of Nazar and Brahmanandam are introduced. M S Narayana's comedy is just about OK and the story for obvious reasons looks familiar to SrinuVaitla's previous films. Technical Aspects: Baadshah is rich on technical values. Music is foot tapping. Banti Poola Janaki and the title song Baadshah look very stylish and the item song 'Kanakam' and Rangoli will be a feast for the masses. Dialogues ad punches are typical Srinu Vytla style and have been used effectively. Action sequences have been choreographed well, especially the opening fight. One can say that Srinu Vytla has once again succeeded in making a decent family entertainer which promises loads of fun right till the end. Time and again, he proved that entertainment is what the viewer looks for, and he delivers it in abundance. Screenplay of the movie is apt and has been handled well in the second half. Camera-work is decent and show cases NTR stylishly. All the foreign locations have been captured well and the entire movie has been richly shot. Bandla Ganesh's production values are a major asset as he not compromised with the look of the film. Verdict: On the whole, Baadshah is a super feast for all NTR fans. A stylish looking NTR and some hilarious comedy is a major asset for this film. Go watch this film with your complete family as Baadshah is a breath of cool air in this hot and humid summer. A Must Watch.
