When I sat down here late in 2022 to watch the 2016 horror comedy musical "Spidarlings", I did so without ever having heard about it. I didn't know what I was in for, but a horror comedy musical sounded interesting enough, so of course I opted to watch what writer and director Selene Kapsaski had to offer.
And that wasn't a whole lot actually. The storyline in "Spidarlings" was not something that entertained me in the least, and I gave up on it just shy of 30 minutes into the ordeal. By then I just couldn't take any more of the non-existing storyline, the dull and one-dimensional characters, the wooden dialogue and the general lack of anything interesting on the screen.
I have to admit that when I saw that it was a Troma movie production, my expectations went right out the window. But I will say that the production level in "Spidarlings" is definitely a step up from the questionable and dubious Troma movies I have watched.
Needless to say that I wasn't familiar with anyone on the cast list, but I can't point at anyone on the cast list and say this actor or actress was really good.
Yeah, "Spidarlings" was definitely not my cup of tea. And it is not something that I will ever return to attempt to finish watching.
My rating of writer and director Selene Kapsaski's 2016 horror comedy musical "Spidarlings" lands on a two out of ten stars.
