Diego Bandido is a Filipino western of sorts. This type of movie was proliferative back in the days and this is an example of action/drama that Filipinos are fond of.
Elizabeth Oropesa and Vic Vargas are lovers against the will of Elizabeth's rich father. When Elizabeth got pregnant, she was forced to marry another man. Vic doesn't know she is pregnant and became suspicious when Elizabeth gave birth to a boy 6 months after she got married. He kidnaps the boy but got shot, eventually causing his blindness. He raised the boy as an expert in guns, fighting and horse back riding.
Meanwhile, Elizabeth became irritable upon being told that her son was killed. Nothing consoled her, not even a young girl (eventually Liz Alindogan) named Helen, whom her father adopted to replace the boy she lost.
The boy kidnapped grew up to become a zorro, defending the poor farmers and known to be Diego Bandido. As fate (and script) would have it, Liz and Jess jr met.
The story is almost the same as Dugong Buhay, Bong Revilla's launching movie. The angle of kidnapped/exchanged/lost child has been overplayed and happening even now. You don't have to finish the movie to know what happens next.
If you are a serious fan of Filipino action then go watch it, otherwise nothing special and nothing to see.
