Was once engaged to Japan's foremost athletic hero, sumo champion Takanohana, in what was called the Japanese version of the Joe DiMaggio-Marilyn Monroe marriage, but the engagement was broken off by Takanohana because his father (who was also the manage of his sumo stable) felt that it would not be appropriate for a sumo wrestler to be married to someone who was not fully ethnically Japananese, and would possibly overshadow him in the limelight.
