Born Louis Morelli, he was a brief contract player for 20th
Century-Fox in the early 1960s. Before being discovered he was a used
car salesman. Fox hoped to capitalize on his
Rock Hudson-type sex appeal
and cast him in two big movies opposite two of its stars,
Le Manège du ménage (1961) with
Susan Hayward
and
James Mason and
It Happened in Athens (1962) starring
Jayne Mansfield. Mansfield and Colton had a
brief affair during their filming time together. Fox's plans to
make him a heartthrob never panned out and he left the industry.
