The vibrant, soulful 'Emilia Pérez' features dazzling song-and-dance numbers by stars Zoe Saldaña and Selena Gomez, but the drama is grounded in Karla Sofía Gascón's performance as the titular character, a former Cartel kingpin called Manitas del Monte who changes her life and becomes a humanitarian after having gender-affirming surgery.
