While never having heard about this 2014 Hong Kong mystery thriller "Bou Fung Yue" (aka "Insanity") from writers Kwong-Yiu Lee, Koon-Nam Lui and Tung-Shing Yee, of course I opted to sit down and watch it as I stumbled upon it in 2022, given my fascination and love of the Hong Kong cinema.
And the fact that the movie also had Ching Wan Lau on the cast list definitely made me want to watch the movie.
Right, well I will say that the storyline in "Bou Fung Yue" was interesting, although the movie sort of got a bit confusing towards the end. But still, it was an enjoyable movie from the very beginning. And if you enjoy mystery thrillers, then "Bou Fung Yue" is definitely well worth watching.
The acting performances in the movie were good. It was nice to see Ching Wan Lau (playing Fan Kwok-Sang) in a movie again, as I haven't seen any of his movies in a long time. I wasn't familiar with Xiaoming Huang (playing Chow Ming-Kit). The movie also had Alex Fong on the cast list, though only in a support role, but he always adds something good to the movies he is in.
"Bou Fung Yue" is well-written and entertaining, and I was genuinely enjoying the movie. As such, my rating of "Bou Fung Yue" lands on a six out of ten stars.
