Gaurav Pandey's 'Shukno Lanka' is a deeply stirring film, about Dreams & Ambition. Its a story about hunger, passion, struggle, success & power. Pandey's Story merits an applause, for the fact, that this is an important film, about so many.
'Shukno Lanka' Synopsis: A Junior artist living in a tinsel town, who is yet to taste success after a struggle of 30 years of acting career, gets the shock of his life when a prolific filmmaker, offers him a lead role in his next film.
'Shukno Lanka' is often moody & slow-paced, but its an extremely arresting journey. Chinu Nandi, the protagonist, (played by Mithun Chakraborty, in an unforgettable performance), is instantly likable & well-written. You feel for the old-man, who's life has been nothing but being a nobody. His success is a triumph not only for him, but also for us, as we feel for him, in a very unusual way. Pandey's Screenplay blends the magic of films with the harsh realities of life, with maturity & some of the most precious dialogue you've heard in a while. He pens a story of an under-dog, with such sensitivity & clarity, that one only appreciates the storytelling once the show concludes.
The true power of 'Shukno Lanka' is its approach. Its not conventional, yet its an every man's story. Pandey's Direction is equally praise worthy, as he has handled the film with command. This critical darling may not be everyone's cup of tea, thanks to its pace & set-up, but for those, yearning to hear a story that blends entertainment with its own touch, 'Shukno Lanka' is waiting for you. Heavily Recommended!
