The film does a great job at depicting the way of life of an older generation in the Meditterranean. Their life philosophy is simple: there's no need to search for a meaning in life as long as you have a true connection with the land.
This documentary manages to capture the essence of a well known problem in the Mediterranean. In the last decades we have seen small traditional villages being abandoned by their citizens in favor of the easier life in the city. The family farming tradition is inevitably being lost. Unfortunately many of these villages are now inhabited by people who do not have a need to connect with the land but instead to consume the nice weather, local food and the "farming experience" (essentially agrotourism).
The film avoids promoting agrotourism in any way. Instead it captures a very different picture from the other side, showing the real concerns of local people, their thoughts and how they perceive this situation.
I feel that this film makes the case that we, as Mediterraneans, need to take care of our fathers' land and continue the farming tradition as much as we can. Because, as we say, at times of uncertainty all you really need is a small piece of land to harvest the basics.
