Quico Posada: Just wait until he's married. A married man needs to seek solace one way or another. Since he's not much of a ladies' man, he'll probably hit the bottle.

Commentaire à la une
They aren't married yet, but that doesn't stop Rafael Baledón from drawing all his money out of the bank, buying a suburban lot, and hiring the architect and workmen to build the house he and fiancee María Elena Marqués will live in. That is, until the sour advice of his playboy friend, Eduardo Noriega, and her cynical BFF Malú Gatica make themselves heard. That doesn't deter them. However, her large, avaricious and overbearing family, and his know-it-all uncle take over, well everything. Add in the mason's strike, the carpenters walking out in sympathy, and potential class warfare between the in-laws; you have to wonder if love can survive.
Given that this was the year that RKO produced MR. BLANDINGS BUILDS HIS DREAM HOUSE, it looks like 1948 was the year for such comedies, in two countries that were recovering from the Second World War. Since RKO distributed this in both Mexico and the US, I am curious if they ever played on the same program. This one has a better pedigreed, being drawn from a 17th Century play by Pedro Calderón de la Barca. I imagine director/writer Gilberto Martínez Solares added a few touches of his own.
