Set in the twenties , Madrid , it stars the kind-hearted Susana (Lina Morgan) , an orphaned girl , because her mummy died a few days after she was born. Leaving her all alone in the stepbrothers's clutches to serve as her maid-of-all-work turns . As she is hardly working at Doña Engracia's (Maria Asquerino) boarding house as a maid for all tasks . As the clumsy Susana becomes her into a virtual servant in her own house . Although she has a hard life working all day long, she keeps a cheerful spirit that makes life easier for those around her, caring for a blind beggar called Sarasate (Roberto Rey) and she sees her world turn upside down when falling in love with handsome Felipe, who has also become Engracia's love interest . In this house, which also houses three nephews (Mary Francis or Paca Gabaldón, Marisol Ayuso , Luis Varela) of doña Engracia without a penny to one's name, and the naive Susana is the maid of all . Economic necessities lead Engracia to rent a room and there shows up Felipe (Arturo Fernandez) , a good-looking dancer trainer . But the egoistic stepbrothers and stepmother reveal a cruelty and jealous towards Susana's sympathy and kindness .
Fun and uneven comedy with musical shows , appointed for all kind of public about a Cinderella-alike who eventually finds her real love . The hilarious happenings are continuous , surrealist , ridiculous and sometimes disconcerting , but in some moments here and there , they are also bold and risible . This film is made to entertain , and this movie , especially for a good time and a pleasant amusement . There is another version , ¨Tonta Del Bote¨ (1939) by Gonzalo Delgras with Josita Hernán , Rafael Durán , though all the copies of this film are lost . Here Lina Morgan gives a very sympathetic acting , as always , playing Susana , an unappreciated, ingenious and somewhat botcher waif who has lived since she was a child at doña Engracia's house . Thanks to Lina Morgan the film results to be an enticing and bemusing Spanish comedy film and with its ups and downs ; here our protagonist , the great Lina demonstrates her real comical skills . Of aristocratic origin, Juan de Orduña y Fernández-Shaw, born in Madrid in 1900 and he decased in 1974 , he started his longtime affection for acting while still attending college. he debuted on silent films in 1924, and in 1925 he was cast in La casa de la Troya (1925), then in El Marino Español (1926) a.k.a. Boy (silent version), and started his own company. In 1928 he both starred in and directed Una aventura de cine (1928), and from then on he would progressively concentrate on directing. He also starred in El misterio de la Puerta del Sol (1930), the first Spanish sound picture . With director Florian Rey , Orduña formed the production company "Goya Films" . Juán directed various historical films , lavishly produced by CIFESA , the most known production company during Francoist period , that often financed these false but breathtaking epic spectacles . For example , ¨Alba De America¨ it is considered to be one of the worst super-productions of the powerful Francoist company CIFESA and it caused its fall and it went subsequently bankrupt .
