"Tiempos de constitución" (Constitution times) is one of the most confusing movies I remember. It's one of those films that were made in Spain during the late 70's contemporarily with the cheap erotic movies where certain film makers expressed supposedly transgressor ideas and protested against the system of that time.
In Spain, like the title says, the Constitution was just made and the movie tries to be some kind of reflection of the disillusionment of part of the spanish people through the description of one of the most strange characters I've ever seen. This man (Paco Algora) is a married an unconventional guy whose wife (Verónica Forqué) has just get pregnant. Well, this is just the beginning, since there the movie disperses in every possible direction explaining weird experiences of this couple's life: Algora and 2 foreigners visiting a museum, a trip to a village in limousine and a child's corpse and the meeting of Algora with an even most strange and weird philosopher (Héctor Alterio).
A strange and ultimately disappointing work without even a minimum consistence. Some moments of real quality, but a big failure due to the desire of the director of making something innovative and remaining halfway (at this time there were several film makers like this one in Spain). If a movie has a clear signification this must be well explained and shown. "Tiempos de constitución" doesn't accomplish this.
