I shouldn't have been too surprised when I found out that this movie was directed by Paul Thomas (under the pseudonym Toby Philips). Thomas has shown real talent directing X-rated films; he's been able to produce art in an oftentimes artless genre. Now he's proved he can make a good "legitimate" film as well.
There are differences between hardcore movies and so-called "erotic thrillers." The former of course relies on large doses of graphic, explicit sex with the plot being little more than an afterthought. In the latter the story DOES matter. In this movie it involves a couple who like to play a risky game. She goes out and picks up men, then right in the middle of her seduction he bursts in playing the role of the outraged jealous husband. They have fun pulling this scam until one of their marks unexpectedly returns to cause them trouble. Suddenly things aren't so funny anymore.
No one will accuse Sara Suzanne Brown of being Meryl Streep but she fits the bill just right in this movie. Blonde, short and stacked, the film gives her a chance to be sexy and to use her other talents too. She's very easy to watch for 90 minutes. I thought the ending wasn't as neat as it could have been but overall this is one of the more enjoyable movies of its type. For those interested in sightings of adult film actors in mainstream productions there are several here. Lene Hefner and Janine (Lindemulder) appear under their usual noms-de-porn. Actor Gerry Pike (listed as Gerald Piek) plays a plumber seen in the opening scene. (That's a classic porno role!) And Dyanna Lauren, credited as Diane Hurley, has a nice supporting role. There are separate listings in the IMDb with different birthdates and places for the two names, but trust me it's the same person. Identical twins couldn't look that much alike.
