A great semi-documentary that shows the life of ordinary people living along the Nord-Ostsee Kanal.One woman is waiting for her husband to arrive by ship while he is traveling from the baltic-sea to the northern-sea on his 1 year journey only to stop by for a couple of hours in a special house built for seaman-wifes to meet their husbands in small rooms.Another woman is working near the harbour as a salesgirl.Nothing very exciting but real life takes place filmed in great black and white pictures.And there is Helga Feddersen, acting very serious and touching.
