Sometimes watching one of these movies you just need a clue at the beginning. This movie gives you the clue or impression that it will be fun from the first act. Nora's character is set up as ruthless, she spares no one who fights her, it is always a fight to the death. Yet, this is done in a fun way. Martial arts movies are the only genre that can get away with making such a gruesome concept into light and funny.
The plot is soon revealed that the prince seems to be recruiting good fighters to rob for him. Special swords, poison and the need for revenge are tossed in to thicken the details.
Nora Miao's first six movies were "The Invincible Eight", "The Blade Spares None", "The comet Strikes", "The Big Boss", "Story of Daisy", "The Way of the Dragon", and "Fist of Fury". Looking at that list closer: She starred in Golden Harvest's first movie, had the lead in three Golden Harvest movies in their first year, and most significant of all she played "the girl" opposite Bruce Lee. Just her roles in 1971 and 1972 were enough to call it a career for most actors. Oddly, though starting in fighting roles, she never threw kick or punch with Bruce Lee. Could that be her only regret?
The fights in this movie are inconsistent. Some are good but some lack power and focus. Overall, nothing too bad and nothing really good.
Any fan of this genre is well aware of this movie so my recommendation is meaningless. Of course, I also rate it above average.
