I'm always pleased when Jonathan Morgan is at the top of his game, as here in this comical followup to this hit "Double Feature". Serenity's back and Morgan's got her in a dream role, portraying the archetypal Porn Diva.
I don't think her character of M (not an homage to Peter Lorre's classic German masterpiece, but rather a joke that she's so important she doesn't need just one word as name like Cher or Madonna but only a single letter) is making fun of any porn star in particular, though from the timing of this Wicked release one might pencil in Jenna Jameson. In any event, she's shown filming her latest production as directed by good sport Mike Horner, and throwing her weight around on set at every opportunity.
Morgan makes fun of many of porn's clichés with a knowing eye, and many of the gags are quite funny. He doesn't stint on the sexual content either, with Serenity super as usual, and meeting her match in an adversary played by the beautiful Alexa Rae. Spot sex scenes are diverting thanks to a hand-picked cast of talent including busty Miko Lee, Bridgette Kerkove (sporting brand-new mams) and Alexandria Quinn.
Morgan shows up in 3 or 4 cameos, ranging from portraying Brando in "The Godfather" (called "The Waddfather" in parody form here) to Howard Stern. Supporting cast including several crew members pressed into service has fun with various slapstick bits, as Serenity belies her stage name in character by routinely knocking down (literally) anyone who's in her way.
Shot 17 years ago, my favorite scene and dialog proves to be prescient, as Serenity eventually takes over directing her movie, and jettisons most of the pages of dialog, angering the studio head (played by George Kaplan) who's afraid there won't be enough running time without it to qualify for the important cable-TV sale. Serenity's insight that wall- to-wall sex is all the audience wants has come to fruition in the intervening years, and means that talented Morgan's days as an auteur are numbered -other than a detour circa 1996 into quickie Anal genre videos, he's managed to stay on the straight and narrow, eschewing gonzo crap -the stuff that has swallowed up the industry of late.
