Commentaire à la une
From the mid 1910s through the end of the silent era Fox was a major source of short comedy subjects and during the late 1920s, the short comedies were supervised by George Marshall. Time, tide and vault fires mean that relatively few survive, but Fox certainly outspent the independents like Roach, Sennett and the Christies for the expensive gags and large casts. Even today, that shows up in the survivors like this kiddy comedy. It may lack the intimate childhood immediacy of Roach's OUR GANG but it is often a far slicker piece of breakneck comedy, with dogs, cats, zebras, bears and the titular elephant of the story making an appearance.
Frankly, I'm not certain what the plot is, since it seems to be chopped down from two reels to less than one: an adult shows up -- it looks like Bud Jamison to me, but I wouldn't swear to it -- and the kids and animals pile onto him. But it sure does move.
