I love independent shorts and have reviewed hundreds for IMDb. Because of this, I have seen many DVD compilations of short films and have a decent idea what constitutes a good or a mediocre collection--and this one is, at best, mediocre. To me, not one of the shorts is a standout short. A few are a bit better than average (such as BOXED IN and INDEBTED) and many are sub-par (practically all the rest). The biggest problem I have is that so many of the shorts are bloody and violent, but without a decent plot to justify the excess. In fact, I have noticed that there is a strong trend towards bloody films in independents and so this is almost becoming a cliché.
If you are looking for a better collection, there are many recommendations I can make, such as the Academy Award winning series from Magnolia Entertainment, the SHORTS! series from Film Festival Collection or those from the Film Movement. Only get MOVIEMARK if you are a die-hard lover of shorts--otherwise you are bound to be disappointed.
