Commentaire à la une
I have seen my fair share of documentaries surrounding the catastrophe that cause the Titanic to sink in April of 1912. And yet I have never actually seen nor heard about this 2019 documentary titled "Titanic: Stories from the Deep" before here in 2023, as I happened to stumble upon it by sheer random luck. And given my interest in the event of 1912, of course I had to sit down and watch it.
The documentary consists of four episodes, each running about 45 minutes each. And I have to say that this is one of the best documentaries about the Titanic that I have had the opportunity to sit down and watch. It is a documentary that takes you around a couple of topics, but mostly revolve around the stories behind some of the personal items that were recovered by the site on the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean where the Titanic lies crumbling.
"Titanic: Stories from the Deep" is a very personal and in-depth documentary, and it is one that is a definite must-watch if you enjoy documentaries about the majestic oceanliner and its tragic sinking.
Throughout the four episodes, I have to admit that I learned a great many new things about the tragedy and the stories of the souls that were lost, but also of those who survived. And I was greatly moved by many of the things the documentary got around to showcasing. Especially the part with the public sounding the whistle that was recovered from the site. That went straight in and really moved me.
The four episodes have very interesting interviews with descendants of some of those that sailed with the Titanic, historical experts and the like. And it is very nicely narrated by Victor Garber.
If you enjoy watching documentaries about the Titanic, you certainly must sit down and watch "Titanic: Stories from the Deep".
My rating of "Titanic: Stories from the Deep" lands on an eight out of ten stars.
