Prolific British character actor, often seen as military officers, police detectives, barristers, aristocrats or newspaper editors. On stage from 1959, he has acted with the Bristol Old Vic from 1962 to 1965. He is perhaps best remembered as the scheming Count Federico in the Doctor Who instalment 'The Mask of Mandragora' and as Captain Keith Windham of the Royal Scots in Flight of the Heron, a miniseries set during the Jacobite uprising.
