Her Chichester Festival Theatre credits include: the title role in "Jane Eyre" (1986) and Bett in "King Lear in New York", a new play by Melvyn Bragg(1992).
During her years at the Bristol Old Vic she started struggling from
severe eating disorders -- anorexia and bulimia. It took her years to
recover which affected the output of work.
[on her bulimia]: "I had cripplingly low self-esteem. I was an ugly duckling with no self-worth. I could feel myself tearing my stomach, and I kind of pulled out of it. It was a very slow process."
