Father was an officer in the Polish army, born around 1900. His mother worked as a teacher at
Ukrainian school. After his promotion they moved to Suwalki where
Andrzej was born. His father was one of thousands of captured Polish officers executed by the Russian KGB after the German invasion of Poland in the infamous Katyn Forest massacre.
