Album: "Humorous Folksongs by Greensleeves" as the character Eddie Greensleeves. NOTE: "Eddie Greensleeves" was a millionaire folk singer who never sang for money. This character was created at the request of Westinghouse Television in New York and Ed appeared as a repeat guest on Westinghouse Television's Mike Wallace's PM East (1961) in 1961-62, as well as two appearances as the same character on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson (1962) in 1962, one with "Fat" Jack E. Leonard and the other with Soupy Sales, hosting.
His nickname "Blade" was given to him in 1967, when he arrived in
Hollywood and did guest shots on one of many western television series
directed by Virgil W. Vogel, who gave him the nickname because he said Ed's
profile was so strong, it could cut the screen like a knife--hence
"Blade" was all he ever called him and the name stuck.
