He ran Martin Benson Films, based in Radlett, Hertfordshire, which made educational and training films, some for Save the Children. He wrote, directed and sometimes narrated these films.
In his later years painted portraits of noted Shakespearean actors, including Olivier, Gielgud and Guiness, staging a 1993 exhibition at the Shakespeare Globe Centre.
