स्टार वॉर्स (1977)) I remember
Mark Hamill and
Carrie Fisher had to swing across this huge drop in the movie --
we didn't use stunt men. During one of the rehearsals, the buckle
holding them up gave way and they almost fell. When we got them down,
they both refused to do the jump completely -- scared witless. So, in
the end, I convinced them that there was absolutely nothing wrong with
it, and they went ahead and performed the stunt. Of course, I had lied
completely -- the buckle was not safe at all, but we had such limited
time. I'd be surprised if they knew that today.
