Was home schooled for most of his life. He took high school courses by
correspondence, and finished his requirements so early that he
graduated at age 15. He and his parents agreed that he was too young
for college, so he passed the time by writing his now best-selling
novels, Eragon and Eldest. Eragon was self-published by his parents,
but author Carl Hiassen's stepson read it and brought it to the
attention of a major publisher.
