Nicola was born a maternity home called The Shrubbery in Basingstoke, Hampshire. When the Shrubbery closed it became the home of Basingstoke's Horseshoe Theatre Company.
Her first school was Fairfield's Infants School, Basingstoke. When it closed it became the home of Proteus Theatre Company.
