In early 2014, acted in "First Gay Hug" (YouTube) video with her daughter, playing a homophobic mother. The video appeared to be marketed as real; April was extensively flamed, and she and her daughter recognized and criticized in public. Her name was removed from the list of "huggers" although the footage remains.
