On 29 August, 1987 he suffered a motorcycle accident that left him in coma for 40 days. After this period the left side of his body became paralyzed. Suffering from depression for not being able to return to his passion (surfing) he committed suicide in early 1989. He was 32. He was survived by his wife and one kid.
