I am a fan of True Crime. Dateline does a good job of taking a humanistic approach to interviewing while laying out the linear (usually) narrative of the crime, investigation, and "justice" given.
They have the best journalists of any true crime series at the moment and have for a while. Andrea Canning, Keith Morrison, Josh Mankiewicz, and the few times I saw Craig Melvin cover a story make up my 4 favorites. Dennis Murphy has a long history with Dateline, but I would like to see Craig Melvin take his place.
I dropped a point off due to sensationalized presentation of crimes. That being said, I think it's impossible to have any show like this without a little sensationalism. And with that being said, Dateline never seems to lose sight of the fact that they're covering tragedies. I have seen a lot worse in the many True Crime series I have seen.
