As the credits given in the beginning, the film is dedicated to the noblest profession of the world - medicine. Directed by Vijay Anand, the film presents a clash between the professional ethics of a doctor and his greed for money. It has been shown through Dr. Anand, played by Dev Anand, who goes to a village to assist the local people. In course of his career, he rises and starts to forget his ethics and even his wife. Story-wise the film is commendable which deals with medical profession which still seems to be relevant in the present day. The story has been told through the relationship between a husband and wife (played by Dev Anand and Mumtaz) which brings the true essence of the film which in every instance looks quite natural.
Some of the songs of the film have turned classics like "Le maine kasam li." Performance wise, I liked Mumtaz better than Dev Anand. She was considered a very hot pair with Rajesh Khanna those days, but she makes a tremendous performance with DEv Anand as well. Dev Anand gets the central role and he looks good in few emotional scenes. But the one to steal the show was Vijay Anand, who kind of overshadows Dev Anand at instances. However, the film is not without flaws. The film is lengthy, contains many songs that hinder the flow, and few sequences like that of Hema Malini gets dragging. But still the film is a classic and I had a nice time watching it.
