Francis Perrin is primarily a stage actor whose forays into the movies are not generally happy;by the eighties ,he had starred in some more and less funny comedies when he made his debut as a director ;four feature films in all ,the best is certainly his last effort ,"Le Débutant", based on his own story.
His other movies "Tête A Claques" " Ca N'Arrive Qu'A Moi" and this one
suffer from weak ,repetitive screenplays ,full of ponderous gags .
Frank and Bernard share the same apartment and both work in the same tourist agency .Bernard drives the coach through the streets of Paris and Frank is the guide .His eccentric comments could have been a source of inspiration ,but Perrin does not exploit it.
The driver longs for a family life but he is not lucky with the girls. So he asks his friend ,who is a womanizer , to help him find at last his better half .Frank winds up in a hospital and falls for the shrink ,Nina.Faithful to his pal , Frank comes to his rescue but he falls in love with Nina too.
Pretty derivative ,huh ? The gag of the nymphomaniac nurse and her "would you have a coffee with me?" is repeated ad nauseam in a hospital where anyone can just walk right in.
Perrin goes to great lengths to win his audience's acclaim ; but a good writer is desperately needed all along the way.I dare you to laugh once!
