Due to extensive renovations on the Coral Reef house, Dan and Betty move the family to another house. When they separate, Dan says he'll move back alone and work around it, and arrives to pick his way through a flurry of activity, but when Betty drops the kids off shortly later, the renovators have all conveniently vanished to make room for them.

Dan Broderick: [smirking] It's Christmas. If your Mom wants to behave like a spoiled brat, let's let her.
Betty Broderick: What kind of person gets his wife a Christmas present she *doesn't* even want?
Dan Broderick: [calmly, while clutching Betty's wrist as she holds the ring box] It's a beautiful ring.
Betty Broderick: [screams] *But it's not what I asked for!* So that makes it a piece of crap!

Outstanding Movie and Outstanding Acting

Betty Broderick worked hard as a wife, and Mother, and got a raw deal when her husband of 16 years, Dan, left her for his young, pretty, secretary (Linda). He finally asked for a divorce, and this was the beginning of the end. A betrayed Betty went on the war path, and made Dan's life miserable, which led to her shooting and killing him, and his new bride, Linda. She worked hard for years supporting Dan when he was in law school, and raised their 4 children as well. Excellently portrayed by Meredith Baxter, this movie was fabulous. Part II, her Final Fury, the last chapter was also an excellent movie!
