A beautiful film.
A couple find balance, and each other, however hurdles may present themselves.
A man, discovering that life is, well, perhaps not what he expected of it, finds refuge (or perhaps salvation) in a country estate. Here he manipulates and interprets several fragments of his life for us. And a period of reassessment ensues. He finally comes to understand the parent within him. The longer term perspective. He's just getting old and this is not enough.
Perhaps a metaphysical journey, he thinks about what he has read and studied, that which makes him up. The mind. Philosophical characters stream throughout. However, eventually, a magnificent balance is discovered.
The authors of this work have done a magnificent job. There were many beautifully crafted and wonderfully conceived moments in this film.
Metaphors abound. However I find the relationship of this man to that of life, out there, to be the most moving.
I can think of no film that promotes the art of filmmaking more as a noble and worthy profession.
