Girl

I had really been hoping that the movie would be at least half as good as the book, because I absolutely love the book and have read it a ridiculous amount of times. The movie completely changed the story, the characters, and just the general feel of the book. It turned Andrea Marr into this annoying, air-headed teenage girl with no depth, Todd Sparrow into a clean-cut pretty boy who sang boring music, and Cybil into...well, a Tara Reid character. The book even emphasizes the fact that Cybil is shy, and that Andrea is shocked when she just wears a shirt that shows a little bit of her stomach, and in the movie she's hardly wearing any clothes at all. I think I'd be less offended by the movie being like a 90 minute episode of My So-Called Life if it didn't mention that it was based on the Blake Nelson book. But ah well. Those are just a few thoughts.
