The TV movie "Desire Named Streetcar" was made by Belgrade Television back in 1994. Directed by Tanja Fero and based on a screenplay by Radivoje Bojichic, it's quite a unique piece.
This satirical work describes the events of the 1990s in a country where Western nations used propaganda, sanctions, and pressure to push for the breakup of socialist Yugoslavia. It humorously showcases society through a mix of politicians, fortune tellers, eccentrics, priests, and other quirky characters. The tram's route and the arrival time for its passengers are completely up in the air. It's both surreal and hilarious!
The film features a talented cast including Ivan Bekjarev, Mihailo Janketic, Ruzhica Sokic, Goran Sultanovic, Dragan Maksimovic, Vlasta Velisavljevic, Jasmina Avramovic and more.
