First edition broadcast with stereo sound in a few countries. This was intended but a technical fault meant that the programme was broadcast in mono. The first TV stereo broadcast was in 1985. The first international radio broadcast of the Eurovision Song Contest in stereo was in 1977. A stereo sound recording exists of 1976 in the Dutch archives.
